Morocco’s King Mohammed VI has appointed *Fatima Zahra El Mansouri* as the country’s first woman Prime Minister.
Her appointment follows the September 23 parliamentary election, in which her Authenticity and Modernity Party emerged as the largest party, winning 97 of the 395 seats in parliament.
El Mansouri, a former mayor of Marrakech and current Housing Minister, has now been tasked with forming a coalition government.
Her appointment marks a historic milestone for women in Morocco’s political leadership.
